Pastor’s Monthly Update

We are ever grateful to our Property Committee for making our facilities accessible for all. Pictured below, this new door was installed Monday, March 28th so that with a push-of-a-button, it will open itself, and then automatically close. During light building use, this door will be typically locked to keep the building secure, but when the public arrives, it will be “ON” and ready! If you look closely, you can see the newly installed exterior activation pod.

Related to this subject, we are still working on a remedy for the side-entrance door from the parking lot into the kitchen. The convenient touch pad unlocking system is not working.
DID YOU KNOW? Our own Walt Dickinson, Tom Mioduszewski, and Gary Thomas are part of the dramatis personae of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” being performed this first weekend, April 1st and April 2nd at Henderson’s Fine Arts Center. Performances are at 7 p.m. each night. Congratulations, guys! We are super-proud of you!
Maundy Thursday is on April 21st. We will have our supper fellowship that week on Thursday at 6 p.m. It will be pot-luck with a food theme of “foods that can be fixed quickly at home” to remind us of the Passover being done in haste. Then we will celebrate Holy Communion in the sanctuary. We will not have Holy Communion the first Sunday of May.

COMMITTEE NIGHT
April 3rd, 5:30 p.m. Location: Brain Injury Adventure Camp, Robards.
Bratwursts, hotdogs, chips, and drink will be provided by the Mission Committee and BIAC. If you would like to bring something, bring your favorite salad or cookies/dessert. Directions: The Hoffman farm is about 15 mi south of Henderson. Go south on Hwy 41 [past the famous truck stop restaurant] until you come to the Four Star Industrial Park entrance on your right. Turn into that entrance, and proceed past the Columbia Sportswear factory that will be on your right. When you reach the gravel road, turn right, and the camp entrance will be your first right on that gravel road. Welcome! [pastor’s cell just in case: 844-9838; Tim Johns’ cell 454-1519]

BRENNA BUG wristbands were introduced to us March 30th at the Wednesday night supper by Phillip and Whitney Gish and Sondi Buckman. All three of these young adults are showing their loving support for the Brian and Amy Staser family who were involved in that terrible car accident on 2nd St on New Year’s Day. Brenna Staser, their 8 year old daughter, faces many more surgeries. The suggested donation for a wristband is $3. That support is being given to help the family with the enormous out-of-pocket expenses they are experiencing. It makes you proud to see these young people doing what they can to support others! We have two bags of the wristbands here at the church, and we will gladly get your donation into the account at Old National Bank for this family in a “timely” manner! Thank you!

FR. EDWARD BRADLEY will be recognized for his long and dedicated service to this community on May 6th. The Good Friday Service hosted each year at Holy Name will have special meaning as he leads us in the Stations of the Cross. Good Friday is April 22nd.

PALM SUNDAY: 9:00 a.m.—10:00ish a.m. Come visit “Tequila” the donkey out at Peggy Fidler’s Equestrian Center 7088 Old Corydon Rd. It will make your Palm Sunday gospel reading more real! Easiest route probably is to drive past the college on 60 towards Morganfield, and take first hard-surface road to your left, and Equestrian Center sign will be on your right.

THIS REMINDER FOR PALM SUNDAY and EASTER SUNDAY: worship will begin at 10:30 a.m.
